Welcome back y’all 🤠 Derrick and Corbin with Corey Sly Electrical Service Inc. continue.
Derrick being the Lineman, had to leave and check on other jobs. Corbin is very knowledgeable and continued the wiring. Me being the conversationalist that I am,🤠 I asked questions. LOL! He was great and answered all my questions. He actually built me an “example outlet”. Picture below. He didn’t have to do that. Maybe he just wanted to keep me alive. LOL! 🤣
I’m sure I mentioned it before. “YOU GOT TO KNOW YOUR LIMITATIONS!”. That's why, even though I love to share all my DIY Projects, I always call in the Professionals when it is necessary. I could not see myself taking apart the breaker box to the main house,😮 notching out the metal plates for a double breaker, insert a double breaker, going to purchase a specific amount, in feet, of 6 AWG Black PVC 600V wire 😮(heck, I didn’t even know what that was until I asked) and then running it UP the wall, out into the attic, across the attic floor, down in between the outside wall to meet the existing hole in the wall. 😮 OMG! Then to run the wire through the PVC pipe 20 feet, in the trench, to the shop. Then set up a NEW breaker box in the shop. Also, I would have had to go purchase ALL of these parts. I’m not even close to mentioning all the work / details that Derrick and Corbin did.
So I ask, what do y’all think? I say, “NO SIR!!! I know my limitations!” 🤠 Call in the Professionals. Remember, “Safety First”.
ASK. Ask and you can save a lot of MONEY. Even calling in the Professionals, there are a lot of minor jobs that a good Company will work with you, to save you Money. Things this DIY’er can handle safely. 🤠🤣😮💨
This is the actual EXAMPLE OUTLET that Corbin built for me. 🤠 15amp 125V Duplex outlet/receptacle
I would say, all together they put in about nine hours of labor, beginning to end. After being Mr. “chatty patty”, LOL! I wanted to stay out of the way, but I wanted to stay busy. I had saved blocks of this grey foam pictured on the back of my truck.
This foam, cut up in small blocks, was perfect to be inserted in the small corner holes, where one could see daylight. It was great for the edges, side door edges and around the roll up garage door. The roll up door has a wide gap at the top, when the door is down.
Birds…birds can be a problem. 🤔
No more daylight in all these areas. If you look closely, I left three holes uncovered for ventilation. You want your building to breathe, otherwise sweating may occur.
See the two pictures below. 👇
This next picture, may be hard to see, pictured from the outside while the rollup door is down. There is grey foam running across the top. I cut two pieces of a 4”x4” with my Sawzaw
check out this Lowes Craftsman saw , my Sawzaw is an attachment to my older, Black and Decker tool. My circular saw does not set deep enough to cut through a 4”x4”. I show off the Craftsman, because if I ever need a NEW saw, I like this one. OR, if I really want to go all out, I could buy the REAL SAWZAW which belongs to Milwaukee Brand. I know, I use the word “Sawzall” like we all use the word Coke or Kleenex. 🤠 What I have, is a “Reciprocating” saw. Milwaukee is a great brand, but there are plenty of great brands at Lowes , Home Depot or Amazon. As a good DIY’er, I love to give y’all choices.
Anyway, back to the cutting of the 4”x4” to hold the foam over the rollup door.
Again, this next picture may be hard to see the grey foam. Before this job and the picture, it was like a wide open space for birds to come into the shop. 😡
Corbin continues the electrical, while I stay out of the way and fill the gaps around the shop with my grey foam blocks.
I snuggled the two pieces of trimmed 4”x4” between the metal frame work of the roll up door, to hold the foam in place. The 4”x4” clears the roll up door, up or down. The grey foam reaches out two inches, snug against the roll up door. This does cause a little bit of effort to roll, as the foam flaps up and down while opening and closing. No worries, I like the door snug.
Best of all, NO Birds in my new Shop. 🤠
